About This Course
Domestic helpers first aid course prepares you to assist others in case of emergency. After immediately calling the emergency services, you will be able to help distinguish between what to do and what not to do and be able to help someone who is unconscious. This program also aims at heightening the domestic helpers’ alertness in injuries and household accidents prevention as well as enabling them in providing proper first aid treatment and emergency handling.
1. Before Giving Care:
– Preparing for emergencies.
– Understanding your role in the EMS System.
– Obtaining Consent to help.
2. Checking an injured or ill person:
– Checking a responsive person.
– Checking a person who appears to be unresponsive.
3. Cardiac Emergencies:
– Heart attack.
– Cardiac arrest.
– Giving CPR.
– Using an AED.
– Working as a team.
4. Choking:
– Risk factors of choking.
– Signs and symptoms of choking
– First Aid for choking. Caring for an Adult, Child and infant who is choking.
5. Sudden Illness:
– General approach to sudden illness.
– Respiratory diseases.
– Asthma.
– Seizures.
– Fainting.
– Assisting with an asthma inhaler.
– Assisting with an Epinephrine Auto Injector.
6. Traumatic Injuries:
– Shock.
– Internal bleeding.
– Wounds and burns.
– Muscle, bone and joint injuries.
– Head, Neck and spinal injuries.
– Chest, abdominal and pelvic injuries.
7. Environmental injuries and illnesses:
– Exposure injuries and illnesses.
– Poisoning.
– Bites and stings.
– Lightning strike injuries.
8. Special First Aid Situation:
– Abuse & Emergency childbirth.
9. Injury prevention:
– General strategies for reducing the risk of injury.
– Vehicle safety – Fire safety.
– Safety at home and work.
